Urban Farm Play Day- School Holidays Tour & Animals
October 1, 2020 –
Come and enjoy an urban farm experience with a guided tour of Perth City Farm and time with the animals from Farmer Damian’s Moobile Farm. This school holiday activity is suited to children aged 4-11.
Perth City Farm is a 26 year old Urban Farm that provides space and opportunities to build community connections, and educates and enables people to live sustainably. Founded on the site of a former battery recycling facility, this once toxic site has been lovingly rehabilitated over many years to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement.
We love to show children around the farm and will cover themes including:
Food production- veggie growing, fruit trees, medicinal herbs
Waste management- compost, worm farms, recycling centre
Animals- chickens, ducks and bees and their care
Outdoor art- street art, mosaics, sculpture
History of the farm as a volunteer lead community project
The experience includes time spent with Farmer Damian and his kid-friendly animals including sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks & geese. Children will get to feed and pet the animals, and learn about how they are cared for.
A parent or Caregiver must accompany their child/children to the session, and stay onsite for the duration- we've got a great cafe onsite and a sandpit with toys for children under 4. Please dress for the weather.
All parking around City Farm is paid on weekdays and it can be hard to find a vacant spot. But we're right next to Claisebrook train station and on the free Yellow CAT bus route so catching public transport can be part of the day's adventure :)
