Join the WA Forest Alliance (WAFA) for a weekend tour of the Northern Jarrah Forest in Jarrahdale and Dwellingup and learn about the forest’s ecology, immense natural and cultural values and about current threats from mining. You’ll come away equipped with tools and resources to be an active champion for the forests.

OVERVIEW

The Northern Jarrah Forest grows on the Darling Plateau in a belt around 250 kilometres long, from north of Toodyay to south of Collie. This two-day tour 25- 26 June will guide you through sections of the forest around Jarrahdale and Dwellingup which are under particular threat from the proposed expansion of bauxite mining. Travelling via bus, the Hotham Valley Railway and on foot, we’ll witness magnificent intact forest, cleared and rehabilitated areas and forests under threat. Along the way you’ll hear from locals who have been campaigning tirelessly against clearing for mining operations from Alcoa, South32 and Rio Tinto. The discussion will be continued over dinner at the Dwelly Pub on Saturday night.

This tour is open to all, whether you’re a long time supporter or have never come to a WAFA event before. Kids are welcome so long as they're able to manage a 6km walk. Please book an individual spot for them for the buses and accommodation. Those who haven’t campaigned with WAFA before are particularly encouraged to come along!
