Fiona Blackham from Gaia Permaculture will talk about why native plants are important to our Perth landscape for fauna, soil biology and climate; understanding Perth soils; how to create a water-wise bush landscape; where to find a list of plants to suit your soil type; how to place plants to save time and money; and the best spots to purchase native plants (from tubestock to 100 litre bags).
Fiona will demonstrate how to test soil pH along with a mason jar test. Participants can bring in soil samples if they wish.
