Seedsaving…a chance to save precious seeds for future generations
October 24, 2020 –
Learn why we should save seeds and the process involved
About this Event
In spite of the growing interest in home gardening and organic agriculture across Australia, we are still facing the very real threats of losing diversity in our food and potentially, food security itself, as the choices for the seeds we use to grow our food are reduced.Saving your own seed is a gift of self reliance – a gift you can then share with others to help make your local community more resilient and food secure. Not only that, your seeds are conditioned to your local climate and landscape, making each generation genetically stronger and increasing yields, the way nature intended.
Join Fiona Blackham, from Gaia Permaculture, who will explain the basics of saving your own seed.
