Recycling Facility Tour
November 12, 2020 –
Have you ever wondered what happens at a Recycling Facility 🤷♀️♻️🤷♂️ ?!
Join us and find out on a tour of the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) Regional Resource Recovery Centre (RRRC) for National Recycling Week ♻️🌏!
On the tour you will get to see:
🗑 The Waste Composting Facility, so you can learn how the general waste bin was turned into compost and what now happens with Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) materials.
🌱 The Green Waste Facility, where garden waste is turned into mulch.
♻️ The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where recyclables are separated, baled and sold for reuse.
🍎 The Education Centre, where there are lots more resources to help you to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The tour involves climbing a total of 84 stairs to observation decks and spending approximately 30 minutes walking outdoors 🌞 on bush paths around the site. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required. Kids (older than 6 years old) are welcome on the tour, they must be registered for own ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Closed footwear is essential for all. We strongly recommend you wear long pants, a hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.
This is a free event ♻️💚🙌. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and a light morning tea will be provided at the end of the tour.
Wear: Fully enclosed footwear 👞, long pants 👖, hat and sunscreen.
