October 3, 2020 –
Come along to our free workshops hosted by Sabrina Hahn to find out how to build climate change resilience in your garden
About this Event
The City of Melville is hosting 2 workshops in October 2020 on climate change adaption gardening. These workshops will be run by Sabrina Hahn, the host of ABC radios gardening program, Roots and Shoots and local gardening goddess. Sabrina has a passion for the creation of sustainable environments that make cities more liveable. Her aim is to educate the community on the importance of creating biodiversity in their own backyards. She believes that the diminishing green spaces in urban areas provide an opportunity to return biodiversity into cities and offer people a space for physical and mental wellbeing.
The aim of these workshops is to build climate change resilience in your garden. Sabrina will be talking about ways in which we can improve soil health; the importance of appropriate plant selection; the importance of creating upper level tree canopy to increase shading; ways to help plants cope with disease and pests; and improving irrigation design.
