Birds in Your Garden Talk
February 20, 2021 –
Come and learn all about local native birds and what you can do to attract them to your garden!
Following the success of our previous bird talks, Rachel and Mike Green are back - complete with new bird photos and stories, to help you understand, identify and attract birds to your garden, street or reserve in the Shire of Mundaring.
You will learn :
• How to identify birds - learn their calls, how they nest and features to look for when identifying them. This will include a special segment on how to tell the difference between all those challenging 'LBB's'– little brown birds.
• What birds eat and how to provide food and shelter for them.
• How to attract birds to your garden, and what plants and conditions they need.
• How to use birdbaths, bird perches, bird boxes, bird apps, bird books, binoculars and more. There will be bird books and other equipment on display.
You will be shown many excellent photographs and videos of the birds so you can practise identifying them. Photographs specifically taken in the Shire of Mundaring will be included and a list of all the birds seen in one hour at the Civic Centre will be provided to help you start your own bird list. You can bring photographs of birds you want identified.
Be left feeling inspired to care for and get to know the birds in your garden, street or reserve.
