A Panel Discussion on the Cost of Climate Change

Extreme events like droughts, heatwaves, and floods have an impact on agriculture and food production; this is already affecting Australia’s economy and will cost us much more in the future.
According to a report by ClimateCouncil Australia, direct macroeconomic shocks from climate change, including reduced agricultural yields, damage to property and infrastructure and commodity price hikes. These are likely to lead to painful market corrections and could trigger serious financial instability in Australia and the region.
The Perth Global Shapers and OxfamUWA would like to invite you to an interactive panel discussion where our expert panelists would discuss the long-term economic impact climate change would have on Australia’s economy, our well-being, and the costs of transitioning towards renewables and the tangible actions we could take to reduce our carbon footprint and help shape policy.
