Freo Permies Perma-Blitz
BeaconsfieldWe are back! Thank you for being patient with the COVID lockdown. But now that things have settled down we can get back to it!
Perma-Blitz events are a whirlwind of activity as we come together to make permaculture plans a reality.
Please follow the Eventbrite link to grab a ticket! It’ll help us plan for catering. You will be notified of the address only after you secure a FREE ticket.
For this months event we are welcoming everyone to come and take a look at what has been happening at Brendan and Sarah's place!
Nestled into a historic part of Beaconsfield, Sarah and Brendan have been busy with renovations and improvements over the last year, and are now ready to get their backyard back into a productive food forest!
Arrive by 9am for a cup of tea and a walk around, before Brendan and Sarah will go over their design ideas and we will get ourselves sorted into teams.
Jobs for the day will include defining paths, sheet-mulching, weeding, harvesting, planting fruit trees, and making vegetable beds. As we work you’ll be guided by our 'team leads' who will help to not only teach you the task, but help you understand the theory and interconnectedness behind the activities.
Yummy morning tea and lunch will be provided to keep you nourished - including gluten free and vegan options.
We will wrap up by 2.30-3.00pm before sitting back and celebrating what we've all created!
Children and family friendly.
Please bring along:
- weather appropriate clothes
- hat
- suncream
- gloves

CIBSE WA - Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure
State Library of Western AustraliaPerth Cultural Centre, 25 Francis StPerth,This presentation will discuss the present and future infrastructure needs for electric vehicles in Australia.
Dr Chris Jones is the National Secretary of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association and chair of the WA branch. Formally trained in chemistry (B.Sc. University of New England) and plant biology (PhD, University of Western Australia) Chris took an early interest in energy, environment and sustainability issues, and was particularly motivated by a keen interest in self-sufficiency. While living in Canada conducting research into sandalwood oil biosynthesis in 2008, he rode an electric bicycle for the first time and was hooked. The start of his electric mobility journey began. Chris will give a presentation on electric mobility, and present the case that electrified transport is the best chance we have of decarbonising the sector responsible for one fifth of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions. He will explain why the shift to EVs is both inevitable and necessary, and that only minor changes need to be made to facilitate an enormous shift in how we think about energy. The solar home, with a bit of help from the battery powered car, will be the crucible of the energy revolution.
Free event. The Great Southern Room Level 4, State Library of Western Australia
