At the Southern Metropolitan Regional Councilβs Regional Resource Recovery Centre (RRRC) in Canning Vale, you can come and see exactly what happens to your waste.
At this free community tour you will visit:
β’ The Materials Recovery Facility, where recyclables are separated, baled and sold for reuse
β’ The Green Waste Facility, where garden waste is turned into mulch
β’ The Waste Composting Facility, so you can learn how the general waste bin was turned into compost and what now happens with our FOGO materials
β’ The Education Centre, where we have lots more resources to help you to reuse, reduce and recycleOpen to all residents from the Perth metropolitan area and beyond.

Recycling Facility Tour

Join us and find out on a tour of the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council (SMRC) Regional Resource Recovery Centre (RRRC) for Global Recycling Day β»οΈπ!
On the tour you will get to see:
π The Waste Composting Facility, so you can learn how the general waste bin was turned into compost and what now happens with Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) materials.
π± The Green Waste Facility, where garden waste is turned into mulch.
β»οΈ The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where recyclables are separated, baled and sold for reuse.
π The Education Centre, where there are lots more resources to help you to reduce, reuse and recycle.The tour involves spending approximately 30 minutes walking outdoors π on bush paths around the site. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required. Kids (older than 6 years old) are welcome on the tour, they must be registered for own ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Closed footwear is essential for all. We strongly recommend you wear long pants, a hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.
This is a free event β»οΈππ. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and a light morning tea will be provided at the end of the tour.

Join WMRC Waste Educators Nabilla Antipas and Laura Monisse and compost guru Peg from Lessen with Peg for this Compost & Worm Farm Workshop. We'll take a tour of West Leedy Community Garden and go through different solutions for managing organic waste at home and show you how to set up low cost system for yourself.
Find out how you can receive $50 toward the purchase of a compost bin, worm farm or Bokashi bin after attending this workshop. This is a limited offer for WMRC Member Councils and Town of Cambridge residents only. Ts & Cs apply.
