Ecoburbia Tour
Ecoburbia16 Livingstone StBeaconsfield,Come for a tour of Ecoburbia - alternative urban infill development, a farm in the city, sustainable house and community hub.
About this Event
Ecoburbia’s intention is to create more sustainable, connected and resilient communities. We provide exciting and motivating educational programs based on sound behaviour change theory.
Ecoburbia, as an urban community and microfarm, is a living demonstration of our intention that we share with others.
But just what is it?
Ecoburbia is part urban infill development, where we have converted one house into four self-contained living units, tripling the population density without adding to the house’s footprint.
Ecoburbia is part urban farm with chickens, goats, compost and fruit trees, plus a large shared veggie patch.
Ecoburbia is part demonstration sustainable house, with cutting edge energy systems, water collection and dispersal systems and innovative passive solar design.
Ecoburbia is part educational opportunity and community hub, with regular tours, workshops, films and other community events
You have heard about Ecoburbia - now come and see it for yourself.
During this tour you will see
- an alternative infill development
- a series of small and tiny houses,
- four water systems,
- an integrated power system including low tech power systems like solar ovens and cookers
- a house renovated for solar passive heating and cooling
- a simple composting toilet
- a large shared veggie garden, herb garden and preserves
- two goats and 15 chickens
And hear about:
- life living with 9 adults in self contained units under a benevolent dictatorship
- the reasons why Tim and Shani have created Ecoburbia
See you there!
PLEASE BRING SOME SNACKS TO SHARE WHEN WE HAVE A CUPPA

10:30AM 6:30PMMadman & Luna Cinemas are very pleased to screen the important and timely the documentary I AM GRETA, which had its world premiere at Venice Film Festival and played at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The story of teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg is told through compelling, never-before-seen footage in this intimate documentary from Swedish director Nathan Grossman. Starting with her one-person school strike for climate action outside the Swedish Parliament, Grossman follows Greta - a shy schoolgirl with Asperger’s – in her rise to prominence, and her galvanizing global impact as she sparks school strikes around the world. The film culminates with her astonishing wind-powered voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to speak at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York City. (English with some Swedish)
“What is so compelling is the picture I Am Greta pieces together of Thunberg herself.” - Screen
“Nathan Grossman's glossy doc underlines the formidable achievements of teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg.” - Variety
“I Am Greta is a smoothly constructed view of a heroine in the making, and of how the world largely embraced and sometimes dismissed her.” – Hollywood Reporter
“Nathan Grossman follows the teenage visionary through her public, often painful evolution into a divisive figure.” – IndieWire

Ex-Bo at Manning: Natural Object Wall Hangings
Manning LibraryJoin Perth creatives Kat Scarff and Louise Monday for a series of exciting craft workshops at Manning Library.
Kat will guide you in creating with nature with Natural Object Wall Hangings and Natural Prints and Mark Making sessions while Louise will show you how to reuse old magazines and books with Black-Out Poetry and Trash.O.rigami workshops.
Create wall hangings from found pieces of our natural environment that can be woven and hang to create unique art pieces. You’ll discover your creativity via the exploration and expression of nature within artwork. Please bring along some found objects to incorporate into your artwork such as gum nuts, fine sticks, dried grass, fresh and dried flowers, and/or fresh and dried leaves.
Finished pieces from the Ex-Bo event series will be displayed in the Manning Exhibition Boxes in December 2020 and January 2021.
All sessions are free but bookings are essential.
