Hosted by ABC TV Gardening Australia presenter and environmental scientist Josh Byrne, this event showcases the latest ideas in environment-friendly gardening and provides participants with the practical information needed to get the best results from their garden.
The Aveley event will feature Brad Thompson Coordinator – Natural Environmental Maintenance for the City of Swan and the great work the various swan valley catchment groups are doing to address water quality of our local waterways.

Join Fiona Blackham from Gaia Permaculture in a variety of three workshops that are designed for ever avid gardener in mind.
From learning out Permaculture Landscape Design with the Introduction to Permaculture workshop , or perhaps you want to learn more about Organic Gardening and how to avoid using sprays, chemicals and artificial fertilizers? Or maybe you are keen to know how to work with the soil you have, encourage native wildlife and create a more waterwise garden, then the Native & Waterwise Garden Design may just be what you are after.
Workshops will be offered on two occasions with dates outlined below:

Beechboro Public Library332 Benara RdBeechboro,Kevin Smith from The Worm Shed presents on all aspects of worm farming and the role worms play in recycling and waste management. This is followed by a demonstration of setting up and maintaining a worm farm.
Residents and ratepayers of the City of Swan are entitled to a $115 subsidy on an advanced worm farm set-up or a $50 subsidy on 1kg of worms, both of which will be available for purchase on the day.

SpearwoodTBA on registrationFreo permies would love you to join us for the last blitz event of the year!
A Perma-blitz involves coming together as a group to help with a number of projects in another members yard. It is a great way to connect with your local permie community, share skills, and have fun!
In this event Leanne has been a long time member of Freo Permies, so we excited to be able to hold a blitz at her place (finally)!
Activities for the day aim to be centred around the 12 principles and projects for the day include:
- Learn how to create an IBC wicking bed and trellis fence using recycled materials
(Capture and Store Energy, obtain a Yield, Produce no waste)
- Set up a rain tank to harvest water from the roof
(Produce no waste, Capture and store energy)
- Establish and seperate the verge into productive beds
(Use edges and value the marginal, obtain a yield, value diversity)
- General tidy and harvest!We will have a range of activities for different abilities, ages, and interests and you will be fed well with a yummy morning tea and lunch provided (vegan with gluten free options).
Freo Permies activities and events also aim to be family friendly - so we welcome children, but please recognise you remain responsible for them at all times.
